Role Overview
Screen Ireland is seeking applications from qualified accountants to join its Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) as an external member. The ARC operates under Terms of Reference approved by the Board, in alignment with the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies regarding Audit and Risk Committee membership.

Audit and Risk Committee 
As a priority, the Board of Screen Ireland established the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) to operate in accordance with Terms of Reference, which have been drawn up within the framework provided by the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies. The ARC advises the Board on meeting its statutory responsibilities, as well as the effectiveness of its systems of internal control, and its risk management. As part of its commitment to good governance, the Board of Screen Ireland is seeking to appoint an external member to the ARC that has recent and relevant financial experience.

Location of Meetings
Meetings are conducted either onsite or online.

Remuneration
This is an unpaid position. However, any necessarily incurred committee member expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the public sector travel and subsistence policy.

Time Requirements
Approximately 8 days per annum (4 meetings).

Experience Required
Candidates must be qualified accountants with significant senior-level financial management and oversight experience in an organisation within the private, public, or other relevant sector. 

Essential Qualities 
All candidates must have: 
  • A demonstrable understanding of upholding the public interest. 
  • An understanding of Screen Ireland’s mission, vision, and values.  
  • A proven ability to contribute within a diverse group of people with objectivity, independence, diligence and in good faith.  
  • The ability to think critically and make decisions, based on analysis of available data.  
  • Knowledge of the corporate governance obligations in a non-commercial semi-state environment. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • A strong sense of ethics, integrity, and accountability. 
 
Conflicts of Interest
To qualify for appointment, candidates must not have any conflicts of interest that could interfere with their duties as a member of the Audit & Risk Committee. Candidates should carefully consider and address any potential conflicts of interest in their cover letter. The Assessment Panel may determine a real or perceived conflict based on submitted information, which could impact the consideration of the application.
